The Halloween Mini Project has been my favorite class activity so far. It was the first time I got to implement my knowledge obtained from PLTW year 3, Digital Electronics, onto a physical device. It was also interesting to learn about different processes like soldering in order to make our circuit work. Finally, integrating the non-electronic components with the circuit In order to make a smooth operation. I believe that the fact we were a 3 person primed us to work together well in order to get the project done as quickly as possible. I believe there are several ways we could've improved the project and done a better job. First of all, I believe that we pushed back when we were going to begin working on the project because of when we obtained our materials too long. Consequently, if we had more time, we could've added several aesthetic improvements and made a more foolproof mechanism in order to ensure the device would not malfunction. Furthermore, we could have the allotted class time to work on the project more instead of having to do it in a separate time and coordinate around our schedules.
One piece of advice that I would give my future self for the capstone project is not to procrastinate the project so as to make sure you have ample time for testing and improvements, which we certainly lacked in our Halloween Mini Project.
